WHAT IS VI PEEL?

Whether trying to address acne scarring/spotting, sun damage, pigmentation, or aging skin, Vi Peel offers specially formulated treatment blends that are sure to alleviate these conditions and give skin a youthful glow. Treatment is virtually painless, and has a 7-day process for achieving better textured, smoother, more radiant, and refreshed skin. Treatment is complete with a take-home kit to care for skin while it is going through the peeling process and assure optimal results.

HOW DOES VI PEEL WORK?

Vi Peel works by removing superficial layers of skin that hold damage, pigmentation, or other ailments, and allowing new, rejuvenated skin tissue to grow in its place. The chemical peel causes older skin cells to dry out and peel off while simultaneously stimulating collagen production and the formation of healthy tissue.

It is a week-long process whereby clients come into the office and have the peel applied, begin peeling after about 2-3 days, and undergo peeling for about 3-4 days. There are very strict after-care instructions for the duration of the peel that must be followed in order to protect the skin while peeling and ensure that results are favorable.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Getting a chemical peel is a delicate process, and it is good to be prepared.

No pre-skin conditioning is needed in order to get treated with Vi Peel. However, some skin conditions might require that patients wait a certain allotted amount of time before getting treated, such as laser treatment, use of certain skincare products, etc. Please call to schedule for a free consultation to determine the best course of treatment for your skin type and needs.

Beginning the treatment, the skin is first cleansed with alcohol. After the skin has been cleansed, the peel will then be applied in three passes. During the first application of the peel, you may feel a slight tingling sensation, but with each consecutive application the feeling will go away. Once the peel has been applied approximately three times in this fashion, the process is complete. It is a very quick process.

Immediately following the treatment, your skin may appear orange in color, as if you have a sunburn. This coloration goes away by the next day. You will be given a home after-care kit, complete with cleanser, towelettes, peel protectant, sunscreen, and at-home instructions on how to take care of your skin in the following days.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Side effects may occur with Vi Peel treatments, however with proper care and instruction, the side effects and risks can be eliminated or minimized greatly. Some of these risks include mild redness, skin sensitivity, hyper-pigmentation, scarring, infections, cold sores, and burns. It is important to follow the proper post-treatment care in order to avoid any complications.

For most patients, peels can done about three to four times a year. The frequency of the peel depends on various factors, and will be determined case by case, but it should be spaced out at least 1-3 months. The peel can be preventative of things such as acne scarring and sun damage, and can even be performed on children going through puberty.

A single Vi Peel will achieve significant repair and add a healthy glow to the skin. Some conditions like acne scars, pore enlargement and hyper pigmentation might require multiple applications. It is a restorative and painless repair of damaged skin, including sun damage and acne. Best of all, it is a true aging preventative for younger skin with no visible damage.

Like everything else in life, skin needs maintenance. The Vi Peel’s results will last as long as skin is maintained with the Vi Derm® Skincare line. The Vi Peel should be performed about three to four times per year.

ALL skin types can enjoy the benefits of the Vi Peel. For the first time, African-American and other darker skin types such as Southwest Asian and Latin patients can experience anti-aging and restorative skin repair that was previously unavailable.

The skin peeling associated with the Vi Peel is a light, fluffy peel that generally starts on day three and generally finishes by the end of day seven. The peeling is easily hidden by moisturizer. In some cases, the peel is virtually invisible. Patients using Retin-A may experience heavier peeling. The peel can be modulated by your skin care provider to produce a deeper, more aggressive peel, if necessary, depending on your skin condition.

The skin will look slightly tan, yellow or red immediately after the peel. On days one and two the skin will feel slightly tighter, with no visible signs of having had a peel. Any pigmented areas might appear slightly darker. On approximately day three, you will begin to peel. The first signs of peeling usually begin around the mouth area and continue for a day or two. With the use of the Vi Derm™ Post Care Moisturizer, you may go about your usual daily routine. By day six or day seven you will be done peeling and the results are dramatic! If a more aggressive peel, such as the Vi Peel with Precision, was performed, a secondary peel might occur around day seven.

There are no restrictions. Make up can be applied after the peel solution has dried complete (two hours or more post peel). We recommend avoiding heavy sweating for the first few days after the peel. Normal activities can be resumed immediately after the peel.

The neck, arms, hands and chest all respond well to a Vi Peel. The Vi Peel is incredibly effective in removing sunspots from the hands, arms and chest and eliminating the wrinkles associated with sun damage on the décolletage. The peeling process is different and longer than for the face.

Sun exposure should be limited and Vi Derm SPF 55 should be used liberally. However, the Vi Peel was created to be practical. The only days where exposure to the sun should be seriously avoided are days three and four, when the skin is peeling, to avoid uneven exposure. After that, you can enjoy moderate sun exposure, continuing regular skin care maintenance and daily sun protection.
